Steak knives

I think steak knives are some of the coolest cutlery. I’m biased, I love steak. But I’m fed up with the tired, worn, serrated old steak knives you see in restaurants. A steak knife made from high quality steel, well maintained and loved has absolutely no need to be serrated. Serrations are only there to keep blunt blades cutting.
So I want to send some proper steak knives out into the world. No nonsense, comfortable, durable and beautiful knives that will make steak knives great again. Make steak for guests a unique experience by laying them out one of these beauties to cut their meat with. A good knife makes steak taste better, that is a science fact*

this may not be an actual science fact.

This beautiful steak knife is san mai high carbon hardened steel with pure nickel layers in it, Coffee blued to a dark blue/black with that ribbon of bright nickel. The handle is a compound brass full tang with California buckeye burl scales, brass bolster and copper pins.

The steak knife wall set

There are many steak knife sets, but this one isn’t like any of them, and this one is mine. I think knives like these should be a statement piece, and not hidden away in a drawer. I want to display steak knife sets, in a way that doesnt just take up worktop space. So this set comes with a wall mounted double sheath that will keep the knives safe and display them in an aesthetic and space saving manner. I have a dozen ideas for other stands and hangars and I’m willing to try almost anything. This is something you can have a lot of fun with as a concept. What would you want?

Its all in the details

The blades

The knives are once again carbon steel with nickel layers. This is just my favorite steel for knives this size. Complicated damascus blades could be to…fussy. This style is aesthetically clean and striking. The blades are 5.5” and curved wickedly up at the tips. Sharp, but not overly sharp with a chunky bevel this will make these knives tough and long lasting.

The case

The case is a Zebrano double saya, split in the middle with a bronze spacer. The top of the bronze spacer has been forged into a single point wall hanger mount. The sayas are not tightly fitting, this will spend its life on the wall so it does not need to securely hold the blades but they are felt lined on one side to keep those blades nice and protected.

The handles

The handles are Mexican rosewood, softly curved with a mild belly and slimmed waist for very comfortable grip however you want to hold it. The bolster is nickel silver and blackwood front to give a harder, more durable front to the rosewood and an aesthetic break between the handle and saya. The handles are finished off with the hop leaf pin.
